LOCATION
This direct contract role is based in La Paz, Bolivia under a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working from our La Paz office 3 days per week. Candidates who are not currently based in La Paz, Bolivia, may be considered for a fully remote work arrangement.
JOB SUMMARY
This is a direct contract role. As a Senior CloudOps Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain scalable and robust infrastructure solutions in AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes environments. Your responsibilities will span across several key areas, including cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes orchestration, monitoring, and database management.
The role includes a rotation on-call schedule to support the platform 24/7.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Architect, manage, and scale cloud infrastructure across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Apply and improve best practices for high availability and fault-tolerant infrastructure.
- Design, deploy, and optimize cloud services, including:
- AWS: EKS, EC2, Elastic Load Balancing (ALB/NLB), VPC, IAM, Route 53, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, and related services.
- GCP: GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Load Balancing, VPC, IAM, Cloud DNS, and related services.
- Configure and manage DNS, load balancers, and secure user roles across cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with teams to optimize cloud environments for security, reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Design, implement, and operate Kubernetes solutions for both stateless and stateful workloads across Amazon EKS and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Manage advanced Kubernetes networking configurations (e.g., Ingress Controllers, Virtual Services, Service Meshes).
- Automate Kubernetes deployments and manage environments using Helm, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Implement and optimize advanced monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Open Telemetry.
- Develop business-level metrics and proactive alerts to ensure service health, availability, and performance.
- Improve the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of infrastructure through enhanced observability and SLOs.
- Manage databases, including MongoDB, Redis, and MySQL, across cloud-native and on-premise environments.
- Set up, monitor, and scale databases while ensuring security and disaster recovery practices are followed.
- Implement secure infrastructure practices, including role-based access controls, encryption, and audits.
- Implement user federation and single sign-on (SSO) across multiple platforms using standards such as OAuth, SAML, and OIDC.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines that automate deployments across AWS and GCP environments.
- Standardize deployment processes and infrastructure automation to support multi-cloud operations.
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud networking solutions across AWS and GCP, including VPCs, Subnets, Target Groups, NAT Gateways, and Network ACLs.
- Apply software-defined networking expertise across Virtual Services, Ingress Controllers, and traffic management in microservices.
- Integrate AI-driven tooling into DevOps workflows, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI agents that interface with infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability systems.
- Design and operate AI-assisted and automated deployment pipelines to accelerate release velocity while preserving reliability and safety controls.
- Apply AIOps practices, including anomaly detection, predictive alerting, and automated remediation, to strengthen incident response and platform resilience.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging generative AI tooling for infrastructure automation, runbook generation, and developer productivity.
- 5+ years of experience in a CloudOps, DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineer role.
- Strong hands-on experience in both AWS and GCP, including managing Kubernetes platforms (Amazon EKS and GKE), networking, IAM, compute, load balancing, and cloud-native services.
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized microservices architecture.
- Experience managing monitoring stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, with expertise in building actionable alerts and dashboards.
- Proven experience managing databases such as MongoDB, Redis, and MySQL in production environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and cloud-native automation services across AWS and GCP environments.
- Familiarity with AI-driven DevOps practices, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, AI-assisted deployments, and AIOps tooling.
- Understanding of SSO and federation standards like OAuth, SAML, OIDC.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

- Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio.
- Experience implementing cloud security, governance, disaster recovery, and cost optimization strategies.
- Hands-on experience integrating large language models (LLMs) or AI agents into CI/CD, observability, or automated remediation workflows.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in related fields such as: Bachelor’s Degree, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Related technical field.
- Master’s Degree: Specializations in Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, or Software.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Architect, Google Cloud DevOps Engineer, CKA, CKAD, or comparable cloud certifications are highly desirable.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- You must be set up as an independent contractor (self-employed).
- You will not be eligible for benefits.
- The contract will be paid monthly in US dollars through a 3rd party payroll vendor.
- Upon hire, you must be able to provide documentation that proves authorization to work in Bolivia and a Police Clearance Certificate.
